Asheville Ministry

Work Groups
Each work group is made up of 6-7 students and 1-2 adults. In 2024, work groups will be made up of members from the same church.

Vehicles
Each church is responsible for bringing adequate transportation to get to and from downtown Asheville and other activities for their respective group.

Meals and Lodging
All meals are provided and we are able to accommodate any dietary restrictions. We are committed to providing a safe space for all participants.

Embodied Activities
We recognize that becoming aware of systemic changes happens deeply within the context of relationships. We focus on relationship building activities as well as service opportunities that put us in close proximity with one another and experience the reciprocity of liberation.

Educational Simulations
Awareness and education are key components in understanding systematic oppression and the challenges often faced in day to day life by communities experiencing marginalization. We believe that one of the first steps to change is awareness and learning.

Spiritual Health Practices
In loving God and neighbor, we recognize the need to love ourselves. We hope to cultivate practices for spiritual health daily so that we can commit to long term change within our communities.

Asheville is an unforgettable week serving with the community of downtown Asheville. It is an opportunity to meet and truly befriend those who are without homes or marginalized and to attempt to understand life in a different context. It is an opportunity to break down stereotypes and barriers between material wealth and poverty, and in their place, to find genuinely deep, relationships. This is accomplished through relationally and educationally focused activities.
