PROGRAMS AND POSITIONS

Carolina Cross Connection has several summer ministries and 2016 Camp Cook openings for each: Home Repair and Urban Ministry. Please familiarize yourself with our programs, and consider which would be the best fit for you.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be considered for employment, you must…

  • Be currently active in the Christian faith through participation in a church congregation.
  • Be at least at least 21 years of age.
  • Have experience cooking for large groups of people, and have an understanding of special sanitary practices necessary in kitchens and dining halls.
  • Be available for available for employment during one or multiple CCC weeks. When possible, CCC may hire persons who are available to work multiple weeks.
  • Have transportation to and from summer camp locations each week.
  • Agree to schedules, work duties, and conduct expectations as outlined in the application.

Camp Weeks and Locations

 

We are currently seeking Camp Cooks who are able to work for the following locations and weeks.

  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: June 19-25
  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: June 26 – July 2
  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: July 3-9
  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: July 10-16
  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: July 17-23
  • HOME :: Central UMC Asheville :: July 24-30
  • HOME :: First UMC Charlotte :: July 24-30

 

Compensation

 

HOME Camp Cook positions are compensated a base salary of $350 per week. Taxes and any other applicable deductions will be withheld gross pay of each employee.

 

Camp Cook Typical Schedule

 

  • Each week, you will be expected to report to work Sunday afternoon to prepare the first for the week: supper on Sunday evening, served at 5:30 PM
  • You will prepare and serve breakfast and supper each day, Monday through Friday. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM each morning, and supper will be served at 6:00 PM each evening. Occasionally, we may need some flexibility in the dinner hour as some work projects during the day run a little long, but this would be the exception, not the rule.
  • Camp participants will be out in the communities during the day and will take a lunch cooler supplied with sandwich fixings and other items. These lunch coolers will be packed by our Junior Staff and/or campers. Typically, the only duty cooks will have in lunch preparation will be to occasionally prepare some chicken salad, etc.
  • The last meal Camp Cooks are expected to prepare and assist with clean-up is supper on Friday evening of each week.

 

Junior Staff Workers

Carolina Cross Connection typically hires one or two high school students to assist in the kitchen with dishwashing duties, cleaning, packing lunch coolers, assisting with serving food, etc. You may know of a young person who would be interested in handling the duties of Junior Staff, working alongside you. If so, please direct that young person to our Jr Staff application. You may also wish to familiarize yourself with the Jr Staff responsibilities as well.
