Summer Staff Application

Before you begin your application…

Pray. Seek God’s guidance in your decision to apply. Then, read ALL of the following.

PROGRAMS AND POSITIONS

Carolina Cross Connection has several summer ministries and 2019 summer staff openings for each: Home Repair, Urban, and Overseas Ministries. Please familiarize yourself with our programs, if you have not already, and consider which would be the best fit for you.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be considered for employment, you must…

  • Be currently active in the Christian faith through participation in a church congregation and/or campus ministry.
  • Be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2019.
  • Be available for training and employment for all dates outlined in our application materials.
  • Have completed current Basic 1st Aid/Adult CPR certification before the first camp week.
  • Have a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Be willing to submit to criminal background check in accordance with CCC hiring procedure, and be subject to random drug testing.

DETAILS OF THE JOB

2019 Summer Staff Schedule

If hired, all summer staff will be required to be at Staff Training. Dates for training are May 28 – June 8, 2019. Required times may vary depending on job position and program. All Home Repair and Urban Ministry applicants should be available to work anytime during June 11 – July 29. Breaks will be scheduled for you. All Overseas applicants should understand they will be in Honduras all summer long, not returning to the States until July 31.

 

An end-of-summer gathering is mandatory for all summer staff people on July 28. Your last official day of employment will be Monday, July 29.

 

If there are scheduling conflicts (e.g. family reunions, graduations, etc.), please make us aware of those in your application and interview. We may be able to work with these conflicts if we know in advance. All current high school seniors MUST fill out a High School Senior Form.

Compensation

Salaries will be paid via direct deposit. If all partnerships have been raised, half of your salary will be deposited at the end of June, the other at the end of July. Mileage reimbursement checks will be written at the end of the summer.

Parnterships

Staff persons are required to raise one-half of their salary, plus a portion of their living expenses, through Partnerships. More information about the Partnership plan will be sent to those who are offered positions. The thought of raising so much money in partnerships can be a intimidating, but please don’t let this keep you from applying. It is much easier than it may sound, and we are here to help you along the way. We have found it is not uncommon for staff persons to raise more than needed in partnerships.

Salary Pay Scale

 

Home Repair :: Camp Director  $2,800

Home Repair :: Project Director  $2,500

Home Repair :: Camp Coordinator  $2,200

 

Urban Ministry :: Camp Director  $2,500

Urban Ministry :: Camp Coordinator  $2,200

 

Overseas :: Camp Director  $2,800

Overseas :: Camp Coordinator  $2,200

 

Salaries will be increased an additional $100 for every year of previous experience at that position.

Vehicles & Expenses (Home Repair & Urban Ministries only)

Carolina Cross Connection employees drive many miles. Staff vehicles are subjected to a fair amount of wear during the summer, and we place a great deal of emphasis on and train staff to care for vehicles, whether they are personally-owned or CCC-owned. If hired, those using personal vehicles for CCC-related travel will be reimbursed at the rate of $0.16 per mile, up to 5,000 miles. Those unable to provide their own transportation may be able to use one of CCC’s vehicles. Carolina Cross Connection also pays for all gas expenses while on CCC business.

PREPARING TO APPLY

Before you apply, please have the following items complete and ready to upload. Our online application is such that you cannot save your work and come back to it later.

 

 

The application also gives you the opportunity to provide references and any scheduling conflicts you may have; please have this information readily available before starting the application.

 

Candidates who are selected to move to the next phase will be offered a Skype interview. Those who advance from there will have an in-person interview. We call in-person interviews First Looks. They are held regionally on Saturdays from 9 am-3 pm and are required for employment. If offered the opportunity you will chose one First Look to attend (January 12th Gastonia, NC; January 19st Raleigh, NC; or January 26th Raleigh NC).  Candidates who are not selected to advance will be notified.

 

In order to be considered for employment, your application must be completed in full and submitted no later than January 4, 2019 (sooner is always appreciated).
