PROGRAMS AND POSITIONS

Carolina Cross Connection has several summer ministries and 2018 Junior Staff openings for each: Home Repair and Urban Ministry. Please familiarize yourself with our programs, and consider which would be the best fit for you.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be considered for employment, you must…

  • Be currently active in the Christian faith through participation in a church congregation.
  • Be at least 15 years of age by the start of your first week serving on Junior Staff.
  • Be available for available for employment during one or multiple CCC weeks. When possible, CCC may hire persons who are available to work multiple weeks.
  • Have transportation to and from summer camp locations each week. CCC does not have use of the locations during off-days, and we cannot guarantee a place to stay during non-camp times.
  • Agree to schedules, work duties, and conduct expectations as outlined in the application.

We are seeking Jr Staff members for the following locations and weeks.

  • Urban Ministry :: Asheville :: June 24 – 30
  • Urban Ministry :: Asheville :: July 1-7
  • Urban Ministry :: Asheville :: July 8-14
  • Urban Ministry :: Asheville :: July 15-21
  • Urban Ministry :: Asheville :: July 22-28
  • Urban Ministry :: Charlotte :: June 24 – 30
  • Urban Ministry :: Charlotte :: July 8-14
  • Urban Ministry :: Charlotte :: July 12-28

(If you have served with Jr Staff in the past, you may notice that we have limited availability for camp locations and weeks. This is due to this year’s summer schedule varying from years past and kitchen staff requirements for our middle school sites. For these reasons, we will not be hiring for as many positions as in years past.)

 

Compensation

 

The position of Junior Staff carries a total salary of $150 per week. Taxes and any other applicable deductions will be withheld gross pay of each employee.

 

Junior Staff Rules and Guidelines

 

  • Jr Staff are NOT a part of the Summer Staff, will not live in staff quarters, nor will be a part of Staff meetings and Staff responsibilities.
  • Jr Staff will abide by CCC’s employee personnel policy and general camp rules.
  • Jr Staff are under the direct supervision of the Camp Director and other staff members.
  • Jr Staff should arrive at the camp location by 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. Jr Staff may depart following cleanup of supper on Friday or no later than 10:00 AM on Saturday.
  • Jr Staff are expected to maintain a positive, uplifting, good-spirited attitude while representing Carolina Cross Connection.
  • Jr Staff may have opportunities to participate in camp activities, however, first priority is the completion of all job duties and responsibilities.

 

Jr. Staff Typical Daily Schedule

 

  • 6:30 – 7:30 AM:  Assist with breakfast preparation. Ensure the dining area is clean, straightened, and ready for breakfast, set the tables.
  • 7:30 AM: Help serve food and drink. Ensure drinks, ice, and other self-serve items are plentiful.
  • Following breakfast:  Complete packing lunch coolers. Assist participants in getting lunch coolers, ensuring they have more than enough.
  • Clean Up:  Clean dining hall tables with a disinfectant spray cleaner, or bleach and water. Re-sweep dining hall floors and mop if needed. Straighten dining hall tables and chairs. Remove all trash from dining hall and kitchen and place in trash bin. Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes and utensils. Clean all stainless steel and other counter tops. Straighten pantry areas. Sweep and mop floors in kitchen and pantry. Ensure refrigerator and freezer are orderly and clean.
  • 3:30 – 5:00 PM:  Help get participant lunch coolers cleaned out, dried and stored properly. Collect food and drink containers from lunch coolers and clean them.
  •  5:00 – 6:00 PM: Continue cleaning lunch coolers. Assist with supper preparation. Ensure dining area is clean and straightened. Set tables.
  • 6:00 PM:  Help serve food and drink. Clean-up (same as breakfast). Begin lunch preparation (filing containers).
  • 10:30 PM:  Quiet Time
  • 11:00 PM:  Lights Out

PREPARING TO APPLY
